Public Relation Senior Capstone students sponsored a showing of the series “The #1 Ladies Detective” to bring awareness of the lack of students that choose Africa for Study Abroad programs.
“It’s very important for us to show this film to get more students informed about West Africa trips,” said Amber Rodgers PR senior, “So many people have negative stereotypes about Africa.”
The PR Capstone students are given a list of projects that they can choose from for their final PR assignments. They have to design a real case account, and produce a positive outcome.
The movie night is the first of many events the team plans on producing to inform students about the upcoming trip to Ghana. Students have an opportunity to gain six upper division credit hours, as well as three hours of internship credits.
The next promotional event is next Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Gaylord Hall. This event will showcase West African traditions. If you’d like more information about the African Study Abroad programs email program coordinator Loretta Bass at lbass@ou.edu
