Stompdown Preparations Start Early

This year the 2011 Stompdown Committee has started their planning meetings quite early.

“We want to make the sure the show gets better every year,” said Lauren Whiteman journalism junior, and chair of this year’s show, “So we are starting early to insure the preparation of this show is done right.” Whiteman says a lot of the planning started during the summer.

Stompdown is a multicultural step-show sponsored in partnership by The Black Student Association, and The National Pan-Hellenic Council. Last March over 1,000 people stormed the McCasland Field House to attend this event.

The committee has yet to reveal the time, place, or celebrity host of this event. But, they’ve assured that it will be an “epic show”.

Freshman Action Team Kick Off

The Black Student Association hosted their annual Freshman Action Team interest meeting at the Jim Thorpe Multicultural center to discuss events for this semester.

"F.A.T is a key factor in the success of our black students when they first get on campus, said Marva Graham, International Studies senior and adviser of F.A.T, "We make sure to host enriching seminars to insure they're transition is as smooth as possible."

The Freshman Action Team was chartered in 1999 as a tool to help freshman get accustomed to the college life. F.A.T is an umbrella organization of BSA.

Each year BSA hosts an interest meeting to discern what kind of events the freshman would like to host. Their first event will be “Show and Tell”, a showcase of all the organizations BSA has to offer.

On Sunday they will host elections for the 2010-2011 school year. Every student is welcomed to vote.
